History of the Royal Lotus Flower Tiara Replica
It was made using jewels from a necklace that she received as a wedding gift in 1923. The necklace, which was made of diamonds and pearls was given to her by her husband, the future George VI, who had purchased it from Garrard.
Only six months after she received it Elizabeth decided it should be dismantled, it was given to Garrard who broke up the necklace to use the diamonds and pearls to create this tiara. Elizabeth wore the tiara in a series of portraits prior to her husbands coronation in 1937.
Princess Margaret was given the tiara by her mother in 1959, just before she married Antony Armstrong-Jones. Along with the Poltimore, it became one of Margaret’s most frequently worn tiaras. In 1993,Princess Margaret loaned the tiara to her future daughter-in-law, Serena Stanhope, who wore the tiara at her wedding to Viscount Linley, Margaret’s only son.
When Margaret died the tiara was returned to the royal vault, it has since been worn on a couple of occasions by Kate the Duchess of Cambridge, it has proved to be a favourite of the Royal Family for approaching 100 years.
