The Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Royal Tiara Replica is steeped in history. The design was commissioned by a group of influential women who raised money for it’s creation, hence the name. The original tiara featured a fleur-de-lis design and was created 1893 by the House of Gerrard of London one of the leading designers of jewellery for the aristocracy .
The original design is festooned with diamonds set in silver and gold and topped with 14 pearls, it was presented in a mahogany box, obviously the original tiara is priceless. It also included a second frame which allowed the tiara to be worn as a necklace.
Originally this tiara was created for a royal wedding that of Prince Albert Victor the Duke of Clarence and Avondale but he died a few weeks after his engagement to Mary. His younger brother Prince George, Duke of York then became heir to the throne and he subsequently married his late brothers fiancee. This was not unusual in the Victorian age.
Our royal replica version is constructed with a frame of rhodium plated copper with simulated cubic zirconia diamonds. Instead of pearls it is topped with fine simulated diamond. It cannot be converted to a necklace but in all other respects it has the look and feel of the real thing but at a tiny fraction of the cost.
The tiara is Rhodium plated and set with 5A CZ simulated diamonds.
