Shortly after the royal wedding, two of the Bahrain pearls were used to make a new pair of earrings. The earrings feature round diamond studs, from which are suspended round and baguette-cut diamonds in a style of the 1940s. The pearls are used as drops on the earrings.

In the early years of her marriage, Princess Elizabeth wore the earrings quite often for gala occasions and official events. In the 1950s, she wore the Bahrain earrings for a portrait with two of her other wedding presents the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara and the City of London Fringe Necklace.

For the funeral service for Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh in Windsor Kate wore the earrings with another piece of jewellery on loan from the Queen: the Japanese Pearl Choker Necklace.  The same combination of jewels had been worn by Diana, Princess of Wales at a banquet in 1982.  These two royals obviously had impeccable taste and it is very likely that Kate will continue to favour the Bahrain Pearl earrings.
